Certificate of Migratory Movements Guide

The Certificate of Migration Movements is an official document that certifies the entries and exits from Colombian territory of a foreigner or Colombian national.

This document consists of a table of records with several columns, and each entry contains:

Name and surname of the traveler.

Date of travel.

I/E: Indicates whether it is an entry (I) into the country or an exit (E) from the country.

Destination or origin: The city to which the person is traveling or from which they are arriving.

Type of travel document: Refers to the type of document used for identification during the immigration control process. It could be a Passport, Colombian Citizenship ID (Cédula de Ciudadanía), Foreigner's ID (Cédula de Extranjería), or another identity document.

Travel status: For Colombians, this field is not relevant. For foreigners, it refers to the type of permit or visa that authorized their entry into the country. This may indicate whether the foreigner entered with a Tourism Permit (PT), Other Activities Permit (POA), Integration and Development Permit (PID), Visitor Visa (V), Migrant Visa (M), or Resident Visa (R).

PCM: Refers to the Immigration Control Post through which the person entered or exited the country.

This certificate typically reflects the entries and exits from the country over the past 5 years. If older records are required, they can be requested, but the process must be done in person at one of Migración Colombia's offices in the country.

This document is a necessary requirement for applying for certain visa categories, including the Marriage Visa, Civil Union Visa, Parent of a Colombian National Visa, and the Resident Visa for Accumulated Time.

The procedure to obtain the Certificate of Migration Movements involves filling out Migración Colombia's Single Procedure Form, paying the applicable fees, and collecting the document at the Migración Colombia office once it is ready.

Cost: The fee for this procedure is $81,000 COP, which must be paid online when completing the application form.

Estimated Processing Time: The delivery time depends on the Migración Colombia office where the certificate is requested.

For example:

In the Medellín office, it usually takes 2 to 3 weeks to be ready.

In offices like Manizales or Pereira, it may take 1 to 2 business days.

Although the Certificate of Migration Movements is requested online, it must be picked up in person for foreigners in order to validate their identity.

Steps to apply for the Certificado de Movimientos Migratorios

Complete the Single Procedure Form (FUT)

Go to the Single Procedure Form website here.

Select the type of procedure (Certificado de Movimiento Migratorio) and office that will process it

Select the option for "Certificate of Migration Movements" and the Migración Colombia office in the city closest to your residence. Remember that once the document is ready, you will need to go there in person to collect it.

Fill in your personal information

In the personal information section, the form must be completed exactly as it appears in your passport or the identity document you will attach.

After this section, there is a question regarding authorization to send information via email.

You must select "YES" and provide your email address so that all communications related to this procedure are sent there.

Select the type of Migratory Movement

There are three types of Migratory Movements certificate:

From the last 10 years

From 2012 onwards

Before 2012 up till now.

If you are requesting the document for visa purposes, you want to sleect the first option “CMM de 10 años”.

Attach your identity document

Attach the identification document that corresponds to your case (passport, Colombian citizenship ID, or foreigner's ID). This document must be in PDF format and no larger than 1MB. Accept the terms and conditions and click “CONTINUE.”

Payment “Pagar en línea”

You must make the payment immediately after completing the form to ensure the request is processed correctly. Save the payment receipt and the FUT number generated at the end of the form.

After a few days, you will receive an email from Migración Colombia indicating that the document is ready for pickup. An email like this:

After this, you must go in person to the Migración Colombia office with your passport, payment receipt, and FUT number and the Migración Officer will deliver the document physically to you.
